About Us

Sörmland Museum is located in Nyköping and operates throughout Sörmland. Through history, crafts, and visual arts, we aim to broaden perspectives, spark engagement, and contribute to individuals influencing society and their own life situations. Our activities include exhibitions, programs, courses, advice, cultural heritage assignments, and the collection and management of the museum's collections. Sörmland Museum is managed by Region Sörmland.

We are now looking for a temporary curator to work with cultural heritage and building preservation. At Sörmland Museum, you will work in a creative and dynamic environment where we strive together to make it possible for everyone to experience culture in various forms. We are nearly 60 people passionate about the power of culture in society.

In the unit for cultural heritage, crafts, and visual arts, the responsibilities include providing subject expertise and curatorship in exhibition projects and programs, offering advice and assistance with knowledge in cultural environments, building preservation, crafts, and archaeology, conducting courses in crafts, building preservation, and visual arts, performing various forms of cultural heritage assignments, and assisting with promotion activities, business development, and support for professional practitioners in crafts, visual arts, and design.

Your Responsibilities

• Advising the public on building preservation issues and handling certain building matters in the form of referrals from municipalities and county administrative boards.
• Working on curatorial assignments.
• Engaging in outreach and public activities within the cultural heritage field, such as courses.

Your Qualifications and Experience

• Degree from a building preservation program (180 credits) or equivalent education.
• Experience working as a building curator.
• Experience and willingness for outreach/pedagogical work.

• You should be able to collaborate easily and express yourself well in both speech and writing.

Employment Type

Temporary employment until December 31, 2025, with immediate start as agreed.
